Math 20

Math 20 is for students who wish to learn about ratios, proportions, percents, measurement unit conversions, and geometry. These topics are from chapters 5, 6, 8, 9, and 10 in our textbook.

The term is split into four units:

The textbook is Basic Mathematics, 10th Edition, by Marvin L. Bittinger. The bookstore also sells an inexpensive solution manual with step-by-step solutions to all odd problems. There is also an optional book: Math! A Four Letter Word, by Sembera and Hovis.

Please register for the current term's MRC CRN if you plan to use the MRC at all. This is not a credit CRN and costs nothing. It is used by the college to get appropriate state funding for the MRC staff.

For Winter 2010, links to our Moodle homework is here for 8:30am and here for 4:30pm classes.

Learning this math is like a stool that stands on three legs: turning lectures into helpful lecture notes, carefully doing both "prompt" and "enough" homework problems, and developing good test-taking techniques. Neglecting any of these three is dangerous! Please do not demonstrate such recklessness. Successful students make time for all three of these.
